2021 marks the 500th anniversary of the deaths of two of the Renaissance period’s finest composers: Josquin Des Prez and Robert Fayrfax. Josquin was the most famous and respected musician of his time, while Fayrfax led the musical retinue of Henry VIII to the Field of the Cloth of Gold. Josquin’s fame is underlined by the number of tributes that were penned after his death: two of these, including Vinders’ O mors inevitabilis, will be performed alongside sacred and secular works by Josquin and Fayrfax.
