Simon Ravens received his first musical training in Leeds under Donald Hunt and Simon Lindley, then later studied at the University of Wales under David Wulstan. Whilst an undergraduate he became conductor of The Elizabethan Madrigal Singers, the University's long established early music chamber choir. After leaving University Simon travelled to New Zealand, forming Wellington group The Tudor Consort in 1986. In 1990 he returned to Britain where he currently directs the critically acclaimed male voice Renaissance group Musica Contexta.
