Missa Victimae Paschali Laudes: Giovanni Animuccia 1500?-1571

Easter Day in St Peter's Rome

A reconstruction of the principal mass of Easter as it might have been celebrated in St Peter's, Rome in 1567. The Propers for the Mass are by Josquin des Prez and Clemens non Papa while the Ordinary, the Missa Victimae Paschali Laudes, is by Palestrina's illustrious Roman contemporary, Giovanni Animuccia. This was the first modern performance of this work, which was specialliy prepared for The Tudor Consort by Professor John Steele of Otago University, Dunedin.

This performance was part of the Easter in Rome series
