Three Concert Anniversary Series:
"20 Years of The Tudor Consort"
Passio Domine Nostri Jesu Christe: Richard
Davy
Chandos Anthems: G F Handel
Spem in Alium: Thomas Tallis / The Great Service: William Byrd
To celebrate The Tudor Consort's 20th anniversary, the choir invited back former director Professor Peter Walls and founding director Simon Ravens to conduct concerts in their respective specialties. These anniversary programmes included a cappella and accompanied repertoire from the height of the European Renaissance, superb baroque repertoire for chamber choir, soloists and baroque instrumentalists, and a programme featuring a key English Renaissance piece recontextualised into a new work by contemporary composers from the New Zealand School of Music.
Additionally, as part of the birthday celebrations, the choir released a never-before-heard CD of Renaissance repertoire recorded in 1992 under Simon Ravens, plus an extensive performance archive detailing all the choir’s concert programmes over the past twenty years including reviews, articles, posters and programme notes.
This series was one of The Tudor Consort's
